International Student Information

MINT is a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certified school and can provide a Form I-20 to support your student visa to study in MINT’s Academic Year 3-6 Diploma Course and 0-3 Two-Summer Diploma Course. The Montessori movement is world-wide in scope, and the AMI diploma is recognized and sought after in countries all over the world. Your AMI training at MINT will prepare you for a rewarding and fulfilling career in Montessori education in your home country, or in other countries where you may wish to work.

Admissions Overview

International students incur an additional $400 International Student Fee, payable to MINT.

The language of instruction at the Montessori Institute of North Texas is English. International students from non-English speaking countries must take either the TOEFL – Designated Institution Code: B720 – (Internet- 70, Paper Based 560) or the IELTS (overall band score 6.5), unless they hold a degree from a university OR AMI training center in an English-speaking country.   2. Submit any supplemental materials for your application (official transcripts, recommendation letters, English test scores, and the Certification of Finances Form)

F-1 Visa Process

  1. The student must first complete all application requirements and be accepted to MINT

  2. Pay your $400 International Student Fee (see instructions in your admissions letter)

  3. When you receive your I-20, check the information carefully and sign the form in blue ink

  4. Schedule an interview appointment at your nearest consulate or embassy (wait times for interview appointments vary by location, season, and visa category; apply for your visa early) Visa Appointment and Processing Wait Times

  5. Fill out, pay and print the receipt for I-901 SEVIS Form (https://www.fmjfee.com/). The fee for this form is $350.00

  6. Fill, pay, and print the receipt for Visa Application Form DS-160 (https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/). The fee for this form is $160.00

Visa Interview Checklist

  1. Printed receipt of I-901 Form

  2. Printed receipt of DS-160 Form

  3. Valid passport

  4. Form I-20 (This will be mailed to you by MINT.)

  5. Financial information to demonstrate you have the amount needed to pay for your studies abroad. 

    1. If the student or sponsor is a salaried employee, the applicant should bring income tax documents and original bank records and/or statements.

    2. If the student or sponsor owns a business, the applicant should bring business registration, licenses, etc., and tax documents, as well as original bank records and/or statements.

  6. You might be asked to bring papers or proof that you have every intention of returning to your home country following your training

  7. You might also be asked to bring transcripts and diplomas of your past studies.
