Job Description: LOWER ELEMENTARY GUIDE – Toyama Montessori International School, a small, family-run, Montessori school in Toyama, Japan, is growing!

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lower Elementary Guide (6-9yrs) to add to our team. Our ideal candidate has an AMI Elementary diploma and three years of experience in a Montessori environment.

Responsibilities:
- Being the first ever elementary guide at our school
- Laying the groundwork for the success of our new 6-9 age group.
- Developing and implementing child-led learning experiences
- Observing, documenting, and assessing children’s progress
- Communicating regularly with parents about their child’s development
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, with opportunities for additional duties and lessons if desired
- Collaborating with colleagues to foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment

Position starting in April 2026.

Requirements: - AMI or equivalent certification in the appropriate age range or 3 years’ experience, teaching this age range in a Montessori environment.
- A bachelor’s degree or above
- Native or near-native level of English
- A deep understanding of and respect for the unique journey of each child
- A love for nature and the outdoors, as the role involves outdoor activities regardless of most weather conditions
The candidate has the ability to understand and work with a diverse range of learning styles. The applicant can communicate effectively, has strong organizational skills, and build positive relationships with students, families, and coworkers.
