An introduction Dr. Montessori’s educational theory and practice for children ages 6–12 (grades 1-6). This course is designed for classroom assistants, teachers, administrators, school support staff, parents, and anyone interested in human development during these exciting and formative years of life.
This course includes synchronous online meetings and asynchronous work by students, including listening to theory lectures, watching online videos of classrooms and children, and how we use some materials in the elementary, plus some handwork. Through readings, discussions, and targeted assignments, participants will complete the course with a solid introduction to the Montessori philosophy as well as practical guidance for working with the elementary child.
This course is an ideal foundation for those who may be interested in taking the AMI 6-12 Diploma Course. Participants who meet course requirements are eligible for the AMI 6-12 Orientation Course Certificate. Students who successfully complete the 6-12 Orientation Course will be eligible for discounted tuition on other MINT courses through the Alumni Continuing Education Scholarship Fund.
