Job Title: Toddler Community Lead Guide
Job Description: Clover Montessori School, located in the heart of West St. Paul, MN, is a nurturing and dynamic educational community dedicated to serving children from 16 months to 6 years old. We offer a thoughtfully designed Montessori environment with one Toddler Community and one Children’s House, where our students thrive. As a school committed to following the Montessori philosophy as defined by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), we believe in fostering each child's natural curiosity, independence, and love of learning.
The Toddler Community Lead Guide is an AMI trained Montessori guide whose responsibility it is to coordinate the operation of the classroom in the areas of curriculum, instruction and routine administrative duties. The Lead Guide is responsible for communicating with parents regarding a child’s progress or difficulty and for communicating with the Director concerning the children in their care.
Job Responsibilities:
General
• Maintain adherence to best Montessori teaching practices as outlined in the Clover Montessori School program plan and AMI albums
• Understand and promote the school’s vision, purpose and core values and beliefs in a positive and supportive manner
• Be familiar with and adhere to personnel policies outlined in the employee handbook
• Attend appropriate staff meetings and in-services
• Attend and participate in school functions in support of the school community
• Complete and maintain all student lesson records, reports and evaluations required by the school, DHS and Parent Aware
• Provide reports bi-annually for parent conferences, provide communication to families throughout the year and meet with parents when necessary
• Report to Director any concerns, difficulties or needs of students, faculty or families
• Submit blog posts periodically and pictures of children on Transparent Classroom
• Report all accidents and incidents in accordance with the requirements delineated in the handbook
Classroom
• Create and maintain an environment authentic to Montessori principles and compliant with MN Rule III requirements
• Prepare and offer lessons, activities and guidance that support the developmental needs of each child according to Montessori philosophy
• Maintain an environment where the materials are complete and in good repair and which is maintained in accordance with Dr Montessori’s principles of beauty, order and simplicity
• Maintain the cleanliness of the environment to provide a respectful, dignified learning environment for the children
• Ensure the physical well-being of children (children must be supervised within sight and sound at all times)
• Demonstrate respect and kindness
• Protect the privacy and confidentiality of children, faculty and parents in the school
• Assume responsibility for daily supervision, training and evaluation of classroom assistants and aides
• Develop an effective teaching team within the classroom
• Supervise children in the execution of fire and tornado drills
Professional
• Perform his or her services faithfully, enthusiastically and satisfactorily during regularly scheduled school days
• Continue to develop as a professional, fulfilling AMI, DHS and Parent Aware requirements
• Conduct oneself professionally by respecting peer confidentiality, showing cooperation and working through differences in a mature and reasonable way

Requirements: • AMI Assistants to Infancy Montessori Diploma
• B.A. or B.S. preferred
• Successful completion of a background clearance check
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, faculty and families
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Dedication to upholding the values of the Montessori method and fostering an environment where children can thrive
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
